TIM-Sensor

The distance is measured by an eddy current coil in the measuring head, through the material and the air cushion, up to a metallic reference plate. The layer thickness is equal to the measured signal minus the thickness of the air cushion. The space fo the air cushion is about 200 µm and is held constant by a regulated blower and calibrated in regular intervals. No expensive compressed air is used. The absolute thickness of electrically insulating materials such as plastics (also laminations), coating foam, paper, rubber, etc. is measured with the SAC, DAC and RAC sensors.

Coatings on metallic carriers can also be measured. The measuring head can either be on top of or on the underside of the web material. The thickness measurement results from the average measuring field value and is independent of surface consistancy, colour or thickness of the material. The measuring field corresponds to the measuring head diameter of 40-60mm and is optimally tuned for automatic die bolt control.

All sensors are scanned with 12 bit. The resolution of the eddy current sensors is 0,01% of the final value.

DAC-Measurement (double air cushion)

For non-contact measurement on both sides. The measuring range is from 120µ - 25mm. The measuring head and reference plate float on an air cushion with constant distance to the measured material. The system is designed so that equal, light aerodynamic forces are exerted onto the web without contact.

SAC-Measurement (single air cushion)

This sensor is designed primarily for measurement of thin film where a one-sided contact is possible. The measured material is guided over a ceramic-coated reference plate and held by suction without an air gap through a special venturi. The measuring head floats on an air cushion.

RAC-Measurement (roll air cushion)

Used for measuring thin films which are pulled across a roll.
