Due to increased automation, newly developed systems must be capable of not only monitoring functions, but also communication with other production segments. Independent control of production stages has become even more important since the use of computers was implemented.
Networks are used to overcome these problems and transfer information to the individual processing areas, eliminating redundant data entry and enabling quick modification of operating and processing steps. The latter is especially true of just-in-time production processes.
Just-in-time Production - Management information is used and implemented as it is obtained during the production process to maintain a competitive edge. Larger companies have benefitted from the advantages of this type of production for many years, but the advantages have also been disccovered by medium and smaller companies in recent years.
Practice has shown that many manufacturers are not able to design systems that than easily be integrated into contemporary production processes. Troubleshooting alone often exceeds the capabilities of the operators and maintenance personnel due to the vast variety of independent systems which form one production unit.
MeSys has developed a system that overcomes the weaknesses of such systems - affordably priced and designed to raise your productivity. In order to meet the requirements of the ISO Noms 9000, thickness measurements must be continuously recorded and logged. Our gauging systems can be equipped with statistical analysis software for quality control purposes.
Thickness Measuring System Architecture
Our systems are 100% Windows compatible and use standard components. The frame and the operator console include an AMD processor in a PC designed for the latest LAN and CIM technology.
The measurement systems NME-1 and USM-200, in combination with intelligent subsystems, are the optimum addition to your production line. In 1989, MeSys was the first company to offer a self-contained, intelligent frame with a bus system for modular connectivity to hosts/subsystems in the 0.5 µm to 50 mm measuring range. The new generation of measuring systems and control units in production lines are interconnected via LAN, eliminating not only the need for a large number of bus systems but also wires which can be sensitive to interference.
Operational safety is improved while control is performed from one single site. Down times are loged and trouble shooting is simplified. Precept parameters are set via the system console and are downloaded to the sub-modules. Temperature and other set points are managed, set and retrieved from one central site, resulting in significant time savings in setting up repetitive processes. Several production lines are interconnected by the bus system, which in turn, connects to a LAN. This permits your QC department immediate access to data from individual production lines. This system is based on Win-based PCs and is a major milestone in the migration toward CIM.
Measurement Frame
Up to 8 sensors inside the frame meausre quality and characteristics of the web. The web width and position are detected automatically. This smart frame also works without a console as a stand-alone sytem, with connection to a monitor, keyboard and mouse or via LAN.
Non-Contact Measurement Fundamentals 0,5µ - 50 mm
The system operates on a non-radioactive principle and is designed to meet the high QC requirements of flat web processing. Based on non-contact measurement of eddy current losses using a reference plate, the measurement is not affected by colour, opaqueness, conductivity, or material surface characteristics. Thus, re-calibraction is not required when changing the material being measured. Both the measurement head and the reference plate float on an air cushion supplied by the system itself. Depending on the sensor used, measuring range is from 80µ to 50 mm.
NEW is a patented thickness gauge in the range 0,5µ to 200µ. It features modular construction and can be integrated into an existing LAN.
